Located 103 miles northwest of Atlanta, Georgia and 8 miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Catoosa County is conveniently located at the Georgia/Tennessee state line.

Catoosa County is governed by a 5-person Board of Commissioners. Two municipalities are located within Catoosa County, Fort Oglethorpe and Ringgold. Ft. Oglethorpe is the largest municipality and Ringgold is the County Seat. Each city is governed by a council and a mayor.
